Superintendent’s Blog v10

April 21, 2017

Today, April 21st, we celebrate the victory of the Texans at the Battle of San Jacinto where Sam Houston and his Texas Volunteer Militia effectively won our war for independence with Mexico.   The Texas War for Independence was a game changer for our country and the final battle at the confluence of Buffalo Bayou and the San Jacinto River was truly “eighteen minutes that changed the world”.

I hope all of you had a beautiful Easter weekend and were able to spend time with family and reflect on the true meaning of the Holiday.  It’s a special time of the year and a season that resonates renewal and hope for things to come…

I also want to thank those who came out to hear the pitch for engaging in the planning process to become a District of Innovation last Monday.  The questions were great and the flexibilities that the District of Innovation status will give us will help us to grow and get better in helping all of our children to be well prepared with the tools and knowledge that they will need for college, career, and for a fulfilling and successful life.

I also want to thank the School Board for their vision and for unanimously supporting our journey toward becoming a District of Innovation.  It is truly a pleasure and an honor to work for and with such a fantastic and child focused team of leaders.  They have a clear vision for the success of our district and their work as stewards of our community has laid a solid foundation for a high performing school district.

I also want to thank those in our Frankston ISD family who have stepped up and volunteered their time to guide our work to achieve District of Innovation status.  The members of the planning committee will be working over the summer and into the fall to develop a plan that will provide a framework for how we educate our students for years to come.

Thank You…

I hope all of you have a great weekend and a wonderful week ahead.  As I do, I’ll leave you with some nice words to ponder and I hope to see each of you soon.
